ABOUT CANAPÉ/p>
Canapé is a community-based art collective and non-profit
organization. With members from diverse cultural backgrounds in
photography, sociology, textile arts, graphic design,
goldsmithing, and psychology, we realized the art scene often
lacks openness and inclusivity. Traditional art spaces tend to
feel exclusive, targeting specific groups and forms of expression.
We aim to break down these barriers by creating a participatory
environment where everyone can contribute to the world of art.
Mission
Our mission is to foster a welcoming space where people feel
supported to explore, create, and connect through art. Whether
you're an established artist, a curious beginner, or someone who
simply appreciates art—Canapé has a place for you.
Platform
Canapé offers an open playing field for artists—a space for
expression and creation. We aim to be a platform where artists can
present themselves, share their work, and engage in dialogue and
trial-and-error. Our peer-to-peer model connects people of all
backgrounds and levels. Villa Canapé is a shared space shaped by
all.
Conclusion
In practice, Canapé provides a free, accessible platform and
workspace for (young) artists and collectives from diverse
backgrounds. This includes open and residential studio spaces to
create, exhibit, or organize events and workshops.
